Public figure is a legal term applied in the context of damaging actions about someone's reputation as well as invasion of privacy. A public figure (such as a politician, celebrity, or business leader) cannot base a lawsuit on incorrect harmful statements unless there is proof that the writer or publisher acted with actual malice (knowledge of falsity or reckless disregard for the truth[1] ). The burden of proof in defamation actions is higher in the case of a public figure.
Public figures, expecially those in higher positions, play as role models, that is they have a profound influence on the behavior, lifestyles and culture of the general population.

The report claiming that singer Seo Tae-ji and actress Lee Ji-ah involved in a divorce suit has created sensation online as a local news media revealed the shocking news Thursday.
The news spread quickly online as Twitter users began retweeting the news at a brisk pace.

Choi Ji Woo and Lee Jin Wook break up

SEOUL: Korean actress Choi Ji Woo's agency C,JW Company has confirmed that the star, best known for playing the female lead in the hit Korean drama "Winter Sonata", had indeed called it quits with Korean actor Lee Jin Wook.
"After reading reports of their split, we have confirmed with Choi Ji Woo that they (she and Lee) have decided to remain older sister and younger sibling.
"They broke up earlier this year," said a C,JW Company spokesperson on Thursday, pointing out that it was "an amicable separation".
Korean media, citing a source close to the couple, had previously claimed that Choi, 36, and Lee, 30, decided to part ways when the latter completed his National Service in March, due to the excessive amount of media attention their relationship has received.

Kim Hye-soo, Yu Hae-jin split

Actress Kim Hye-soo has broken up with her boyfriend Yu Hae-jin, their agencies confirmed Monday.
The romantic relationship between the 41-year-old stars was revealed last January when they were spotted on a secret date at night.
The agencies said the two actors are no longer in a relationship, but didn't elaborate on when and why they ended it.
"As news reports on the stars' breakup poured in this morning, I was told by Kim Hye-soo that she broke up with Yu. But I don't know the details as it is a private matter," said Kim's agent Kim Nam-hyung.
