1. Are you for or against candlelit vigil? And tell us the reason.
2. What do you think of power overuse by government?
3. Share your ideas in the aspect of human right.
4. Have you ever participated candlit rallies? How was that?
1.I am inclined to favor the idea that candlelit vigil is not the answer.
Government needs time to act. What is candlelit vigil doing for the government? If you ask me, it’s slowing down our government, making it hard for it to recover from its current condition. I read about the president Lee letting the meats from USA to be imported into Korea. Well, he is a person after all. He needs a lot of time and a great deal of concentration to get through this nasty situation, but he, unfortunately, can not just focus on fixing the problem. You know why? It’s because there are people that do not care about how hard the task is, and just express their feelings toward him in such an ignorant way. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
Okay, obviously a government needs some sort of a stimulus in order to function very well, but hey, pressuring your government for such a long time is not the answer.
If you apply too much pressure on a person, he gets nervous, and he does not perform very well. Just like that, government would start falling into a completely wrong direction if too much pressure was on it.
The current situation in Korea reflects this absurdly well. Candlelit vigil is like a teacher with a wooden stick staring at a student (the government), waiting for the student to make a mistake so that he could hurl the stick at him, and making the student awfully uneasy.
Candlelit vigil was a nice attempt, but it has been on for too long. It’s time for the participants to go back to their houses, where they can spend more time on doing more useful activities.
Koreans should support their government, not criticizing it. All things and choices have some unpleasant consequences, but we just have to bear them.
In fact, we can even see this situation as positive because they challenge our society and government to perform better on their tasks.
2.Although I reacted negatively to the previous question, I am not going to justify this power overuse by the government.
I know from looking at the pictures of the vigil, the participants were not equipped with weapons (at least that’s what I make of it.)
I do not know much about laws and other official stuff, but I, looking from a normal person’s perspective, think that suppressing the participants with such powerful stuff as water cannons (what do you call them?) is not the right thing to do. Technically, spraying highly compressed water like that is more like torturing the people with water, and is an utterly disappointing action taken by the government.
3. what do you mean? share ideas on what?
4. No, and I am yet to set my mind.
