Full of Sex and Violence

In the past couple of decades, there have been increasingly more sexual and violent contents onscreens. It has become so commonplace that many people don't think twice about it before allowing children to view these movies. Some studies done on children's movies have astonishing results, For example, the popular children's movie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle, had the most violent scenes of all the movies released in the same year. What's wrong with the picture here? The research has shown that young people are strongly influenced by movies and TV shows When children view violence on screen, they'll believe that it's okay, and mimic the same behavior. If lawmakers step in, producers would complain of censorship. I would like to hear what you think we should do about this problem.
박종우: That's kind of what 1 wanted to say. At least movie and TV show ratings can help parents prevent their children from viewing indecent shows. I agree that there's no way parents can filter even half of thethings on the Internet. When children see violence, they don't know that it's wrong unless they're taught otherwise. They see certain actions in movies and they mimic what they see and hear. That's why violent movies will eventually make our society more violent. The public needs to be more aware of this and be educated in how children are influenced by violent movies. -[11/07]-
