One thing is sure however
 -- Mother's outlets in poor countries do not benefit from largesse of the rich countries.
 
The official biographer of Mother Teresa, Kathryn Spink, writes, "As soon as the sisters became established
in a certain country, Mother normally withdrew all financial support." Branches in very needy countries
 therefore only receive start-up assistance. Most of the money remains in the Vatican Bank.
STERN asked the Missionaries of Charity numerous times for information about location of the donations,
both in writing as well in person during a visit to Mother Teresa's house in Calcutta.
 The order has never answered.
공식적인 테레사수녀의 전기작가 Kathryn Spink는 이렇게 적고 있다. 수녀들이 어떤 나라에서 자리를 잡자마자
테레사는 일반적으로 모든 재정적인지원을 철회한다. 궁핍한 나라의 지회들은 단지 초기지원금만 수령을 한다.
대부분의 돈은 바티칸은행에 남아 있다. STERN지는 Missionaries of Charity에 기부금의 소재에 대한 정보를
서면으로 또는 개인적으로 켈커타의 테레사수녀를 방문했을때 수차례 요구를 했다.

"You should visit the House in New York, then you'll understand what happens to donations,"
says Eva Kolodziej. The Polish lady was a Missionary of Charity for 5 years.
당신이 뉴욕을 방문해 보면 기부금에 어떤 일이 일어나고 있는지 이해할 수 있습니다
Missionary of Charity에서 5년간을 봉사했던 폴란드 여인 Eva Kolodziej은 말한다.
 "In the cellar of the homeless shelter there are valuable books, jewelry and gold.
 What happens to them? -- The sisters receive them with smiles, and keep them.
Most of these lie around uselessly forever."
노숙자 쉽터의 지하실에는 값진 책과 보석 그리고 금이 있다.
그들에게 무슨일이 발생한건가?  ---   수녀는 웃으면서 그들을 받았고 관리하고 있다.
대부분은 영원히 그렇게 놓여있을 것이다.
 
The millions that are donated to the order have a similar fate.
수도회에 기부된 수백만의 돈은 같은 운명을 가진다.
 
Susan Shields (formerly Sr Virgin) says, "The money was not misused, but the largest part of it wasn't used at all.
When there was a famine in Ethiopia, many cheques arrived marked 'for the hungry in Ethiopia'.
Susan Shields는 말한다 " 돈이 잘못 사용되고 있는 것은 아니다. 그러나 많은 부분들이 전혀 사용되고 있지 않다 에디오피아에 기아가 발생했을때 많은 돈들이 "에디오피아의 기아를 위하여"라고 적혀 도착을 했다.

Once I asked the sister who was in charge of accounts if I should add up all those very many cheques
 and send the total to Ethiopia. The sister answered, 'No, we don't send money to Africa.'
But I continued to make receipts to the donors, 'For Ethiopia'."
한번은 이 어마어마한 많은 돈들을 모두 모아 에디오피아로 보낼건지를 계좌를 책임지고 있는 수녀에게 물었다.
수녀는 대답했다.  아나오, 우리는 아프리카에 돈을 보내지 않을 겁니다.  그러나 나는 계속해서 기부자들에게
"에데오피아를 위해 사용" 이라는 영수증을 보냈다. 
 
 
By the accounts of former sisters, the finances are a one way street. "We were always told, the fact that
we receive more than other orders, shows that God loves Mother Teresa more. ," says Susan Shields.
Donations and hefty bank balances are a measure of God's love. Taking is holier than giving.
전임 수녀의 계좌에 따르면 재정은 일방통행이었다. " 다른 수도회보다 더 많이
받는것은 신이 테레사수녀를 더 사랑하는것을 보여주는 것이라고 우리는 항상 이렇게 말했다
 
The sufferers are the ones for whom the donations were originally intended.
피해자는 기부금이 처음 도와주려고 했던 사람들이다.

The nuns run a soup kitchen in New York's Bronx. Or, to put in straight,
they have it run for them, since volunteer helpers organise everything, including food.
수녀들은  뉴욕의 브롱스에 무료식당을 운영했다.  단도직입적으로 말한다면 
그들을 위해서 운영했다. 지원자들이 음식을 비롯한 모든것을 도왔으므로...~~
 
The sisters might distribute it. Once, Shields remembers, the helpers made an organisational mistake,
so they could not deliver bread with their meals. The sisters asked their superior if they could buy the bread.
 "Out of the question -- we are a poor organisation." came the reply.
수녀들은 이것을 배급해야 했다. 한번은 조력자가 조직적인 실수를 했다고 Shield는 회상했다. 그들은 음식과 빵을 조달할 수 없었다. 수녀들은 상급자에게 빵을 살 수 있는지 물었다.  "질문할 필요도 없이 우리는 가난한 조직입니다".  답변이 왔다 

 "In the end, the poor did not get their bread," says Shields.
 Shields has experienced countless such incidents.
결국 가난한 사람은 빵을 얻을 수 없었다.  Shields는 말했다.  그년는 이런 경우를 수도 없이 경험했다.
 
 One girl from communion class did not appear for her first communion because her mother could not buy her
a white communion dress. So she had to wait another year; but as that particular Sunday approached,
 she had the same problem again. Shields (Sr Virgin) asked the superior if the order could buy the girl
 a white dress. Again, she was turned down -- gruffly. The girl never had her first communion.
communion class의 한 소년는 그녀의 어머니가 성찬식의상을 사주지 못해 그녀으 ㅣ첫 성찬식에 참석하지 못했다. Shield는 상급자에게 흰 드레스를 사줄 수 있는 지 상급자에게 문의 했다.  다시 그녀는 우악스럽게 거절을 당했다. 그녀는 성찬식에 절대 참석할 수 없었다.
 
Because of the tight-fistedness of the rich order,
the "poorest of the poor" -- orphans in India -- suffer the most.
 The nuns run a home in Delhi, in which the orphans wait to be adopted by, in many cases, by foreigners.
 As usual, the costs of running the home are borne not by the order, but by the future adoptive parents.
인도의 고아들 극빈자들이 가장 고통을 받았다.
수녀들은 고아가 많은 경우 외국인에 의해 입양되기를 기다리는 home을 운영하였다. 항상 home을 운영하는 비용은 수도회에서 나오지 않았다.  대신 장래의 입양부모에게 나왔다.
 
In Germany the organisation called Pro Infante has the monopoly of mediation role for these children.
The head, Carla Wiedeking, a personal friend of Mother Teresa's, wrote a letter to Donors, Supporters
 and Friends which ran:
테레사수녀의 개인적인 친구였던  Carla Wiedeking 은 기부자,후원자 그리고 친구들에게 다음과 같이 썼다.
"On my September visit I had to witness 2 or 3 children lying in the same cot, in totally overcrowded rooms
with not a square inch of playing space.
9월 방문에서 나는2~3명의 아이들이 같은 소야용침대에 완전히 수용인원을 초과하는
1인치의 놀 공간도 없는 방에서 누워 있는 것을 보았다.
The behavioral problems arising as a result cannot be overlooked."
결과적으로 행동장애 발생을 간과하지 못한다.
 Mrs Wiedeking appeals to the generosity of supporters in view of her powerlessness in the face of
the children's great needs. Powerlessness?!
Mrs Wiedeking는 아이들의 엄청난 곤궁에 직면하여 그녀의 무력함을 이유로 지원자들의 관대함에 호소하였다.

In an organisation with a billion-fortune, which has 3 times as much money available to it as UNICEF is able to
spend in all of India? The Missionaries of Charity has have the means to buy cots and build orphanages,
 -- with playgrounds. And they have enough money not only for a handful orphans in Delhi but for many thousand
orphans who struggle for survival in the streets of Delhi,
Bombay and Calcutta.
 UNICEF가 인도의 사용할 수 있는 모든 재원의 3배의 돈을 가진 10억의 재원을 가진 조직이?
Missionaries of Charity는 고아원과 침대와 운동장을 살 돈을 가지고 있다.  그리고 그들은 델리의 몇명 안되는
고아들뿐만아니라 켈커타난 봄베이의 수많은 고아들을 위한 충분한 돈을 가지고 있다.
Saving, in Mother Teresa's philosophy, was a central value in itself. All very well, but as her poor organisation
quickly grew into a rich one, what did she do with her pictures, jewels, inherited houses, cheques or
suitcases full of money? If she wished to she could now cater to people not by obsessively indulging in saving,
but instead through well thought-out spending.
테레사수녀의 철학에서 저축은 그 자체로 중심적인 가치이다.  그러나 그녀의 가난한 조직은 빠르게 부자로 성장하면서 그녀는 그녀의 그림 보석,물려받은 집, 수표, 돈으로 가득찬 가방으로 무었을 했는가? 
 
But the Nobel Prize winner did not want an efficient organization that helped people efficiently. Full of pride,
she called the Missionaries of Charity the "most disorganized organisation in the world". Computers, typewriters,
 photocopiers are not allowed. Even when they are donated, they are not allowed to be installed. For book-keeping
the sisters use school notebooks, in which they write in cramped penciled figures. Until they are full.
그러나 노벨수상자는 사람들을 효율적으로 돕는 효율적인 조직을 원하지 않았다. 자부심에 가득차서 그녀는

Then everything is erased and the notebook used again. All in order to save.
For a sustainable charitable system, it would have been sensible to train the nuns to become nurses, teachers or
 managers. But a Missionary of Charity nun is never trained for anything further.
모든 것은 지워졌고 공책은 다시 사용되었다. 모든 것이 저축을 위해서.
지속적인 자선시스템을 위해 수녀들을 간호원으로, 선생으로 관리자로 훈련시키는 것은 분별있는 행동이다.
그러나 Missionary of Charity는 더 이상 어떤 훈련도 없었다.

Fueled by her desire for un-professionalism, Mother Teresa decisions from year to year became even more bizarre.
Once, says Susan Shields, the order bought am empty building from the City of New York in order to look after
AIDS patients. Purchase price: 1 dollar. But since handicapped people would also be using the house, NY City
 management insisted on the installation of a lift (elevator). The offer of the lift was declined: to Mother
they were a sign of wealth. Finally the nuns gave the building back to the City of New York.
그녀의 비 전문가주의에 대한 욕구에 힘입어 테레사수녀의 결정은  해가 갈수록 더 기괴스러웠다. 한번은 수도회에서 AIDS 환자 간호를 위해 뉴욕시로부터 건물을 사 왔다.  구입가격은 1달러이다.  장애인들도 건물을 사용할 수있으므로 뉴욕시의 관리자들은 엘리베이터의 설치를 주장했다. 엘리베이터의 제공은 거절되었다: 테레사 수녀에게는 그것들은 부의 상징이었다. 결국에는 수녀들은 뉴욕시에 빌딩을 되돌려 주었다. 

While the Missionaries of Charity have already withheld help from the starving in Ethiopia or the orphans
in India -- despite having received donations in their names -- there are others who are being actively
harmed by the organisation's ideology of disorganisation.
Missionaries of Charity는 이미 에디오피아의 기아와 인도의 고아들의 도움을 그만 두었음에도 불구하고
그들의 이름으로 기부를 받았다. 조직의 이념적인 혼란에 의해 피해를 입은 것은 다른 사람들이었다.
 
In 1994, Robin Fox, editor of the prestigious medical journal Lancet, in a commentary on the catastrophic
 conditions prevailing in Mother Teresa's homes, shocked the professional world by saying that any systematic
 operation was foreign to the running of the homes in India: TB patients were not isolated, and syringes were
 washed in lukewarm water before being used again.
잘알려진 의학잡지 Lancet의 편집자인  Robin Fox는 1994년 테레사수녀의 홈에 퍼져있는 비극적인 환경에
대한 논평에서 규칙적인 경영은 인도에 있는 홈의 운영에 생소한 것이라고 말하므로써 전문가 세계에
충격을 주었다. 결핵환자는 격리수용이 되지 않았고 주사기는 미지근한 물에 다시 사용하기 위해 세척을 하고
있었다.
 
Even patients in unbearable pain were refused strong painkillers, not because the order did not have them,
but on principle. "The most beautiful gift for a person is that he can participate in the suffering of Christ,"
said Mother Teresa.
심지어 참을수 없는 고통으로 신음하고 있는 환자라도 강력한 진통제의 투여가 금지되었다. 그들이 진통제를 갖고 있지 않아서가 아니리 원칙때문이었다.  " 사람에게 가장 아름다운 선물은 그리스도의 고통에 동참하는 것이다"라고 테레사수녀는 말했다.
 
Once she had tried to comfort a screaming sufferer, "You are suffering, that means
Jesus is kissing you." The sufferer screamed back, furious, "Then tell your Jesus to stop kissing me."
한번은 그녀가 소리를 지르는 환자를 달래려고 하였다. 당신은 고통을 받고 있습니다.  그것은 에수가 당신에게
키스를 하고 있다는 것을 의미합니다.  그 환자는 화가나서 소리를 지르며 말했다.   그러면 당신의 예수가
나에게  키스하지 말라고 하시요.
 
The English doctor Jack Preger once worked in the home for the dying. He says, "If one wants to give love,
understanding and care, one uses sterile needles. This is probably the richest order in the world. Many of
the dying there do not have to be dying in a strictly medical sense." The British newspaper Guardian described
the hospice as an "organised form of neglectful assistance".
영국의사 Jack Preger는 죽어가는 사람들을 위하여 홈에서 일한 적이 있다. 그는 말했다.  만약 누가 사랑과 이해와 보호를 하려면 살균된 주사기를 사용하라.이것은 아마 세상에서 가장 부유한 수도원일 것이다. 죽어가는 사람들의 대부분은 엄격하게 의학적인 관점에서 죽을 필요가 없었다.  영국의 신문인   Guardian은 호스피스를 다음과 같이 묘사했다.  건강을 해치는데 도움을 주기위해 조직된 형태라고.....

It seems that the medical care of the orphans is hardly any better. In 1991 the head of Pro Infante in Germany
sent a newsletter to adoptive parents: "Please check the validity of the vaccinations of your children.
We assume that in some case they have been vaccinated with expired vaccines, or with vaccines that had been
rendered useless by improper storage conditions." All this points to one thing, something that Mother Teresa
reiterated very frequently in her speeches and addresses -- that she far more concerned with life after death
than the mortal life.
고아를 위한 의학적인 관리는 거의 더 나을 수 없어 보인다.  1991년 독일의 Pro Infante의 우두머리는 입양부모에게 편지를 보냈다. :  당신아이들의 백신 유효성을 검토하세요.  기간이 지난 백신을 맞았거나 부적절한
보관상태에 의해 쓸모없이 된 경우가 있다고 추측하고 있습니다. 
 
Mother Teresa's business was : Money for a good conscience. The donors benefited the most from this.
테레사수녀의 사업은 : 양심을 위한 돈이었다.  기부자는 이것으로 부터 최상의 이익을 얻는다.
The poor hardly.
가난한 자들은 그렇지 못하다.
Whosoever believed that Mother Teresa wanted to change the world, eliminate suffering or fight poverty,
simply wanted to believe it for their own sakes. Such people did not listen to her.
테레사수녀가 세상을 바꾸기를 원했고 고통이나 가난을 줄이고 싶어 했다고 믿는다해도 그들은 그들 자신들을 위하여 그것을 믿기를 원했다.  그런 사람들은 그녀에게 귀 기울이지 않을 것이다.

To be poor, to suffer was a goal, almost an ambition or an achievement for her and she imposed this goal upon
those under her wings;
 her actual ordained goal was the hereafter. With growing fame, the founder of the order became somewhat
conscious of the misconceptions on which the Mother Teresa phenomenon was based.
가난해지기 위하여,  고통은 그녀를 위한 야망이나 성취를 위한 목적이다.  그리고 그녀는 이 목적을 그녀의 날개아래로 집어넣도록 강요했다.  그녀의 실제적으로 운명지어진 목적은 이 다음이다.
명성이 높아지고 수도원의 설립자는 다소 테레사현상에 기초된 잘못된 생각들에 대하여 양심적이 되는 것이다.
 
She wrote a few words and hung them outside Mother House: "Tell them we are not here for work, we are here for
Jesus. We are religious above all else. We are not social workers, not teachers, not doctors. We are nuns."
그녀는 마더하우스 밖에 몇 글자써서 걸어 놓았다.: 그들에게 우리가 여기 일때문에 왔다고 말하지 마라, 우리는 예수를
위해 왔다. 무엇보다도 우리는 종교적이다. 우리는 사회적인 노동자,선생,의사가 아니다. 우리는 수녀다. 

One question then remains: For what, in that case, do nuns need so much money?
한가지 질문이 남는다.: 이런 경우에 무었때문에 수녀들은 그렇게 많은 돈이 필요했을까?
